If we have lots of rain during winter, you may see it until summer.<\/figcaption><\/figure><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Staying in Groveland: A Second Home Near Yosemite<\/h3><p>Our home is a soft green townhome nestled near <strong>Pine Mountain Lake Golf Course<\/strong>, just five minutes from Groveland\u2019s downtown. It\u2019s not a standalone house\u2014we share walls with neighbors\u2014but the multilevel layout gives it a unique charm. There\u2019s a game room downstairs, a loft upstairs, and our favorite\u2014an outdoor deck perfect for sunset dinners and music.<\/p><p>We come here once a month\u2014sometimes to check on the house, sometimes just to slow down. Whether it&#8217;s an anniversary, a birthday, or a weekend getaway from our kids or friends, this place never feels dull. But not all of us are into serious hiking\u2014and that\u2019s okay.<br>Here\u2019s what we usually do:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Drive through Yosemite Valley Loop<\/strong><br>The scenic loop offers postcard views from your car window.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Stop at Curry Village gift shop and the Yosemite Museum<\/strong><br>They&#8217;re charming and filled with local history. At the parking lot, you can see the half dome.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Dine or sip at Ahwahnee Hotel<\/strong><br>If you can get a dinner reservation, take it. The ambiance is unforgettable. Even without one, you can check if walk in is available, but you still walk in for a drink or hot chocolate at the bar.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Firefall in February<\/strong><br>Around mid-February, when sunlight hits Yosemite Falls just right, the water glows like fire. It\u2019s magical\u2014and many gather just to witness it. It\u2019s just before Yosemite\u2019s main entrance and offers a gentle, scenic walk along a creek, with a short uphill at the end toward the waterfall. The path is perfect for conversation, laughter, and the kind of silence that only nature can hold.<\/p><p>Nearby, <strong>Rush Creek Lodge<\/strong> is worth visiting. In summer, it\u2019s lively with an outdoor pool, fire pits, and families. The walls are lined with mounted deer, elk, and dollar bills folded and pinned to the ceiling. It\u2019s eccentric, rustic, and oddly warm. One evening, we played a Mario Lanza record for my father. He hadn&#8217;t heard it in decades\u2014and he quietly closed his eyes and listened, smiling. When I was little, he played his LP telling Mario Lanza was his favorite, now I found and played it for him. Guests love it\u2014no matter their age.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>The Loft<\/strong>: At the top of the house is a spacious loft.
